Hitting the Nuts - the movie

"Even Professional Poker has a Farm System"

Story

HITTING THE NUTS is the “true” story of the annual illegal poker championship in Scott County, Indiana. When a poker player “hits the nuts” it means he is holding the best hand possible in that given scenario - That he is a sure winner. This story only pretends to be about poker. It’s really about an outrageous group of blue-blooded American misfits who have spent a lot less time hitting the nuts in life…and a lot more time being hit in the nuts by life.

SCOTT COUNTY, INDIANA defines the American Heartland. It is tucked neatly between the thriving metropolises of Indianapolis and Louisville, Kentucky. Just far enough away to be “the country” - Just close enough for a Saturday trip down to the Olive Garden.

Scottsburg is the county seat. It houses the two great centers of commerce and entertainment: Wal-Mart and the freshly constructed Cracker Barrel Restaurant, where one can buy grits and wooden yo-yo’s under the same roof.

Each year, as summer turns to fall, the people of Scott County come together for an annual (and illegal) No Limit Texas Hold Em Poker Tournament. They compete for a cash prize, airfare to Las Vegas and entry into the World Series of Poker Main Event. They also win a bowling trophy.

This year’s tournament is full of wild card players including the zealous town preacher, the aging sexpot waitress, the teenage poker prodigy, the closeted gay funeral director, and, of course, the young Amish farmer hoping to create a better life for himself, his wife and seven kids.

Tournament Poker has taken popular culture by storm over the last five years. HITTING THE NUTS is poised to become the DEFINITIVE COMEDIC SATIRE of the poker phenomenon. This project strives to do for poker what Caddy Shack did for golf, Major League for baseball, and Strange Brew for hockey.
